Star Trek TOS Tricorder

The goal of this project is to create a functioning version of a Tricorder from the original Start Trek Series.

The project has not been updated in many years, but I hope to revisit it in 2025. There is a GitLab repository for the project at https://gitlab.com/richteel/TOSTricorder. The last state of the project was it was working but there were some issues with the Adafruit IO, particularly with the camera function. Adafruit IO has changed considerably since the start of this project so it is doubtful that the existing code will still work. Additionally Raspbian has changed over the years as well so most of the code would need to be modified to work with the latest version of Raspbian. In 2016 and 2017 the project was working well enough that I gave a few demos including a career day held at George Mason University.

  • Home Assistant on Raspberry Pi

I can’t believe I have not written up my Home Assistant setup. Perhaps that is a good thing as I needed to become comfortable with the setup and how to use it. I’ve been using it for nearly a year at this point. What prompted me to do a writeup now is I’m setting up…
